195 lbs. and 22% body fat in September of 2009, thinking this was the correct weight for my body (consistent over the past 20 years), Surprise, now 175 lbs. and 10% body fat, feeling more fit then ever. The best part about losing the weight is I didn't have to change my eating or drinking habits, unbelievable, but that's what CYGA - three times a week has done for me.
I've heard my wife actually mention "you're BUFF, with great calve definition" (she's a leg women). I personally think the combination of the indoor biking and yoga is the formula that can't be beat, trust me I've tried them all. Oh yea, also a great stress reliever and is a heck of a lot of fun.

I am a huge fan of CYGA.
I bought the introductory package back at the end of January, and ever since then I have been hooked. I know that every time I go to a class, I will get a great workout and enjoy myself at the same time. I usually attend the CYGA classes, which are my favorite because I love the cardio-yoga mix. However, once or twice a week, I go to the hour-long cycle classes and yoga classes, and they are no disappointment! I think my favorite thing about the CYGA studio, aside from the great workouts, are the instructors. I have taken classes with almost all of them. Each instructor has his or her own style, but the workout sessions are ALWAYS of high quality. The instructors are knowledgeable, encouraging, upbeat . . . and sometimes even a little sassy. CYGA is an incredibly positive environment, and I am very happy that I found the studio and have started going. I absolutely love it. Keep up the great work! You all are awesome!

I first started coming to CYGA in February under the 2-week trial membership and was hooked immediately. I've been attending for almost 3 months. It is the greatest workout. At first I didn't think 30 minutes of cycling would be enough cardio, but I am completely dripping after the session and the active yoga really challenges me. The yoga portion is not at all intimidating -- you can modify to whatever level you feel works for you. There are people of all different fitness levels in the classes and it's a very welcoming environment. I feel so much stronger, my flexibility has really improved and my energy level is way up. The best part is the focus of the workouts switches each week so you never get bored. It's a great way to start or complete your day.

I began Cyga training in September to get ready for the ski season. I wasn't fully recovered from knee surgery and felt the combination of cycling and yoga would be a good way to improve both strength and flexibility. I had never done yoga before but have been able to quickly learn the positions. After 4 weeks I could walk down steps without pain, my knee is more stable and I've lost 12 lbs.
Cyga is a great way to start my day with positive energy and a clear mind. I like using the new equipment at CYGA because it's easy to see fitness improvement over time. The instructors do a great job keeping the workouts and music interesting so it never gets boring. And finishing the workout with a half hour of yoga is a great way to cool down and get mentally centered for the rest of the day.

Julie and I have been business neighbors for about 5 years. In the former Harleys space, she would always say "try yoga" and I would say "later". When we both moved to our new locations the question became "try CYGA" and I responded "OK after the golf season is over". So, last December I tried CYGA and have been going 3X a week at 6am ever since! I had never done indoor cycling or yoga before and was initially a little intimidated not knowing if I could cycle for a full 30 minutes or would be able to know what down dawg, plank, cobra, etc. meant or what to do! Well, it was not difficult at all! I thoroughly enjoy my sixty minutes of CYGA 3X a week and I feel for a 62 year old man, my flexibility, muscle tone and stamina are like when I was in my 20's (as best I can remember). I FEEL GRRRREAT!!! I appreciate Julie's persistence and am now a CYGA junkie.

For a long time, I thought there could be no better workout than a nice hard spin followed by a great yoga class. I was so excited when I found out about CYGA. The concept is exactly what I was looking for but couldn't make happen at my former gym.
They have so many classes to choose from, that there's really no excuse to not make a class on any given day. And even if you're there at the same time every day, they change things up enough to make it fun to be there.
The bikes ROCK! I love watching in real numbers how much stronger I’m getting every day. In fact, today I noticed it was much easier to throw my 5-year-old into his seat in my SUV than it was just last week! As a former runner and weight trainer, I'm enjoying challenging my mind and body in new and different ways. I LOVE CYGA!

You know, I was really missing the old 5:30 Friday morning men's yoga, but CYGA's got it going on -- cool name; great facility; diverse clientele (age and experience); and a really knowledgeable, instructive, and awesome staff that allows each participant to work as hard or push as far as they want/need to. They're all so friendly too -- heck, they even giggle in a kind, yogic way when I fall over during those tricky yoga poses (you know the ones I'm talking about). Thanks for the weight loss, the energy gain, and for getting me to bed early three nights a week.

Julie
I just turned 50 and I feel better than I have in years. The spin class has helped with stamina, strength, and weight loss (20 pounds in 12 weeks). I have so much energy, it's been amazing. Yoga has brought a peace of mind, and a feeling of being focused and centered. I sleep better and can handle stress in a much more productive way. Family and friends have noticed the many positive changes and it's only been three months. I'm excited to have found a workout that I look forward to, and have had such positive results from both physically and mentally.

CYGA! It’s a good thing. Once you start you can't stop. I feel the healthiest I’ve ever felt, with loads of energy. I love the CYGA class, it's the perfect combo of cycling and yoga to build muscle and burn calories. I’ve lost 25 pounds in just two months of CYGA classes. I really want to tell people to give themselves this time; three hours a week of moving, breathing, and fun, and you will be addicted.

- Why did you create CYGA?
- Milwaukee already had a number of really great yoga instructors and indoor cycling classes at various gyms. What it lacked was a single studio that combined the two into one efficient full-body workout. So there was a niche to fill, and CYGA fills it. Aside from wanting to introduce this exciting new workout to Milwaukee, fitness is simply something we’re passionate about. And naturally we’d like to share that passion with as many people as we’re able. It’s our way of contributing to a healthier, happier community.
- What does CYGA provide that other workouts don’t?
- CYGA isn’t meant to replace your favorite workout. It’s meant to introduce a fun, new, efficient method of exercising geared toward those seeking a well-rounded, well-balanced, full-body fitness experience. CYGA is perfect for those interested in trying something different and exciting – and it’s also great for those training for a road or mountain bike race, or those looking to add a cardio component to their yoga practice. The great thing about CYGA is that it wraps everything you need to stay (or get) fit into one efficient workout – whether you’re a beginner or a fitness junkie.
- What is CYGA FourCore™?
- The CYGA FourCore™ – Endurance, Strength, Flexibility, and Balance – are the four key components of a well-rounded workout. Likewise, they’re the four key components of every CYGA workout. With CYGA, you’ll increase each of these core components no matter what your level of expertise may be or where you are on the fitness spectrum. Because each CYGA workout is designed specifically to maximize the FourCore™. Best of all, you do it all in one efficient workout. CYGA FourCore™ is your ticket to health, fitness, and wellness.
- What if I’ve never done cycling or yoga before? What should I expect?
- We offer a number of different classes, so please refer to our Class Descriptions for a more detailed explanation. Typically, a CYGA workout is 30 minutes of indoor cycling and 30 minutes of yoga. While you’re on the bike, you’ll be listening to some amped-up music that will help drive you above and beyond. CYGA yoga is a physical yoga geared toward strengthening your body, and increasing your flexibility and balance.
- What if I’m not in good shape?
- We accept people of all fitness levels. CYGA is a great workout, no matter how experienced you are in indoor cycling or yoga. The key is to be patient with yourself and take everything at your own pace. Your body will tell you when it’s at its limit – whether you’re on a bike or a yoga mat. But CYGA will always help you break those limits, so long as you push yourself, which is what we rely on everyone to do. CYGA is fun, it’s efficient, and it’s full-body. The bottom line: If you’re looking for a heart-pumping, sweat-dripping, heavy-breathing workout, CYGA is for you!
- What should I wear to participate in a CYGA workout?
- The best type of clothing to wear is the kind that affords you optimal comfort and flexibility. We suggest you wear typical sports attire appropriate for cycling and yoga, as there isn't time to change between: cycling shorts or yoga pants, whatever feels best for you. If you don’t have cycling shoes, any type of hard-soled shoe will work.
- What type of pedals are equipped on CycleOps® bikes?
- All of our bikes feature SPD pedals and cages (for non-cycling shoes). We also have a selection of bikes equipped with LOOK pedals.
- What kind of indoor bikes do you have at CYGA?
- CYGA is proud to offer state-of-the-art CycleOps® Club Pro 300pt bikes. These bikes are the only bikes in the Milwaukee area to track a rider's power and cadence during the ride so you can check your progress from one ride to the next. They also offer infinite adjustment for a custom fit.
- Is yoga really for me?
- Yoga is for everyone. You’d be surprised by the number of professional athletes who have warmed to the fact that yoga is incredibly beneficial for their bodies – from football to basketball to hockey and track and field. CYGA yoga makes you stronger, more flexible, better balanced, and centered. CYGA yoga will help you feel more limber, less tense, and a lot stronger in your everyday life. It will also help you steer clear from injury. Yoga is great in and of itself, but when it’s paired with indoor cycling it’s all the more beneficial.
- How many times a week should I partake in CYGA?
- As many times as you want. A lot of our members may choose to double up on their exercises, staying for several hours at a time. Others are in and out two to three times a week.
- Why should I wear a heart rate monitor during my cycling classes?
- Target heart rate training lets you track your cardiovascular and strength improvement. Over time, you'll notice a gradual reduction in your resting heart rate and also an increase in strength so you'll have to work against more resistance on the bike to get your heart up to a target zone. Our CYGA instructors can help you determine your maximum heart rate or you can figure it out here. Once you know your maximum heart rate, you can use the CYGA Training Zone Chart (PDF) to help identify what zone you're working in. Heart rate monitors can help you stay in that zone so you can achieve your goal for that workout. If you haven't been making the kind of progress you know you're capable of, consider this methodical approach to improving fitness.
